This all depends on your car and a number of factors – the age of your car, how it’s been maintained, paint type and hardness and what you’re looking to achieve are all factors that need to be considered. We can provide you with a more in-depth idea of what to expect if you can bring your car to our studio.

From the factory, new cars receive damage to their paintwork from poor washing techniques and everyday operations.  When Pre-Delivery Inspections take place mechanics are not always careful so generally small scratches/swirl marks can be present on the paintwork.

You can wax your car when it has PPF installed just as per your original paintwork. However we do advise keeping away from the edges of the film as best as possible to reduce product build up in these areas. Certain harsh chemical cleaners are not recommended as they can damage the films surface.

The answer is YES.  This will add additional protection and increase the hydrophobic effect of the film making for easier cleaning of the bodywork.  We also offer ceramic coatings and sealants for interior, glass and rims.
It takes around 30 days to fully cure and during this period there may be some haze or condensation visible under the film which should disappear overtime.  Avoid the use of pressure washers in this 30 day period also due to the adhesive not being fully cured.
In theory no.  If the re-sprayed car has been prepared correctly then there should be no problem.  Problems can occur if the film is required to be removed in the future as poor preparation may result in the paint lifting and coming away with the film.  Our only other advice is that new paintwork should be left for a minimum of four weeks to cure and harden before any paint protection film is applied.  If the film is applied within this four week period then there is a similar risk of the paint lifting if the film is removed.

Generally speaking PPF will not adhere correctly to a ceramic coated surface.  We can carry out a test on your vehicle to ascertain what will be required.  It may be necessary to carry out an additional surface preparation of the paintwork prior to the installation of the PPF.  Once the PPF has been installed then we can apply another ceramic coating on top to provide that ultimate finish.  Please be advised when purchasing your new car that if a paint coating is offered at the dealership we do not recommend taking it if you are planning to have PPF installed.

Xpel PPF film comes with their 10 years warranty when installed by a certified trained technician. This warranty covers: yellowing, staining, delaminating, peeling, and product failure. This is backed by the manufacturer during this period. Please understand that poor washing techniques and maintenance may void the warranty.

The film can be removed easily but there are techniques that need to be followed. We recommend that the removal of the product is carried out by our trained and certified technicians to guarantee the film is safely removed. If this is not possible please contact us for assistance.

It is good for us to be able to check your installation after one month; this allows us to check curing has properly taken place. After this time, there is no need for any specific maintenance but if you have any concerns please let us know.

We recommend the use of a good PH neutral car shampoo to wash your car, we also recommend hand wash only. Using a pressure washer is ok but try to keep the spray away from the edges as best as possible as this could lift the PPF if at a certain angle. Also make sure you have the correct pressure washer nozzle that is designed for washing cars and not the removal of patio dirt. The correct nozzle is a fan shape and not a point style dirt killer nozzle as these can damage the paintwork. Using an automatic car wash or ‘waterless’ washing could result in your car taking damage to the PPF and its self healing layer. We can advise on what products to use and how to use them.

We use a state-of-the-art CNC cutting machine linked to the DAP software technology with over 80,000 car templates, meaning there is no need to remove any badges or panels on your car. In our opinion removing panels to wrap film into inaccessible places will only add complications in the future.

This all depends on several parameters. For the basic front end installation you can expect 2 days. The car will need to be prepared and possibly paint corrected and at the end of the process curing and checking is required to make sure we have a perfect finish. To PPF a full car the process can take up to 5-6 working days.

Applying a moderate heat source to the film (between 32-40 ◦c) using warm water or a hairdryer will assist the film to heal itself. Leaving the vehicle out in the sun will also start the healing process.


Even though the special polymers in the top coat of the film have been cured they are still able to flow. After being scratched or damaged on the surface it is able to find its natural level again. Please understand that the self healing is only able to repair light scratches and damage to its surface.
